Visages Mecanique – New Music and Video from Hammer Inventions
The Hammer Inventions duo follow up their debut release with a new track and video, Visages Mecanique.
Inspired by old-time arcade games and mechanically-operated musical instruments, Daniel Berkman filmed Visages Mecaniquie (Mechanical Faces) on a visit to Musee Mecanique at Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco using an iPhone and the app ’8mm’. The use of prepared and bowed piano, and even ambience from the museum itself, stretched out and reversed, is evocative of the haunting quality of the ghostlike, melancholy faces captured in the video.
